THE T-80 AND THE T -300 WERE CONNECTED SUCCESSFULLY WITH THE ALTO II. THEY LATER BECAME PART OF THE XEROX NETWORK SERVICES AND ARE DESCRIBED IN DETAIL IN THE XNS LIBRARY. 80 MB variant has 5 × 14 platters. The top and bottom platters are guard platters and not used for storage.The top guard platter is exactly the same size as the data platters, and is usually made from a data platter which had too many errors to be usable. The bottom guard platter is very slightly larger than the data platters.
The remaining 3 platters give 5 data surfaces and one servo surface for head positioning. This SDM (Storage Module Device) was leter replaced by SCSI in the Xerox Network 8090 Network Servers. USED IN VERY GOOD AND EXCELLENT WORKING CONDITION WITH T80 DISK DRIVE CABINET.
NO DAMAGE, CRACKS OR FADING OF BROWN PLASTIC HOUSING. THEREFORE THE DISKS CONTAIN BASIC XEROX BACK-UP SOFTWARE AND VIEWPOINT 2 SOFTWARE. THE REMOVABLE DISK DRIVE SYSTEM OPERATION AND BACK-UP PROCEDURE ARE DESCRIBED IN DETAIL IN THE XEROX NETWORK LIBRARY (LISTED).
