Apple II BOXED Personal Software version of Zork by Infocom

Super rare to find the box, because it was designed to be barely more than disposable. This release was put out before Infocom published games themselves in elaborate packaging -- this box is pretty plain and is really just a substitute for the plastic baggie that was the more common type of packaging of those early days. The box has a cut-out front so the manual can be seen in the same way it'd be visible in a baggie. In fact, Personal Software used a common box for all of its software, simply adding a label to the rear lower right corner to distinguish different products.

The manual and disk are in near-mint condition. Front of the manual is excellent, rear of the manual has just the slightest of shelfwear. The box has significant wear -- several small tears and creases, and a bigger rip in the upper right corner. Personal Software published the earliest versions of Zork, for the TRS-80 in plastic baggies and for the Apple II in this black box. Manual features a picture of the story's protagonist battling the troll in front of the white house.

Sometimes called the "Barbarian" Zork version, although that's a bit of a misnomer. Please ask any questions about this unique item.
